In recent years, Fort Portal SS has earned recognition for its strong academic achievements, including excellent performance in the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, where entire candidate classes have passed in celebrated results.

The school has also built a reputation in co-curricular activities, excelling in football, netball, athletics, and other sports. These achievements have been recognized publicly, including a thanksgiving service in 2024 where the school and community gathered to celebrate both academic and sporting excellence.
